Beginners – Getting into astronomy and astrophotography can be very intimidating, especially given the number of equipment options out there as well as the amount and complexity of highly technical literature available. We offer a personalized, simplified, and efficient consulting service designed to help you easily navigate your way into these fun and exciting fields!

Intermediate and Advanced – Wanting to improve your astrophotography and take your images to the next level? We offer consulting services across the spectrum to help you expand your knowledge and skills. Topics include but are not limited to:

• Telescope maintenance and cleaning

• Optics and cameras

• Intermediate and advanced image capture techniques

• Mastering image capture and telescope control software (PHD2, Sequence Generator Pro, SharpCap, Stellarium, etc.)

• Mastering image processing software (Pixinsight, etc.)

• Advanced image pre and post processing techniques

• Publishing your astrophotography

Dark Skies Immersive Experience

Looking for dark skies and that fully immersive astronomy or astrophotography experience? Look no further than the Prairie Skies Astro® Ranch! Conveniently located 2 ½ hours from Houston, 2 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth, and only an hour from Waco, this astronomy and astrophotography venue boasts Bortle 3 skies, electricity, and standard WiFi. We offer a night out under the Texas skies for beginner, intermediate, and advanced astronomers/astrophotographers alike! Bring your new telescope, camera, or both and let us guide you through setup, operation, and disassembly. Or bring your advanced imaging rig and capture that faint galaxy or comet you’ve been looking for. We also offer rental of our equipment to better get a feel for remote telescope operation including:

• Telescope

• Mount

• Tripod/Pier

• Eyepieces

• CCD/CMOS Cameras

• Filters/Filter Wheel

• Off-Axis Guider

• Focal Reducer/Adapters

• Control Computer/Software

• Dew control (shield, heater)

We offer a range of services throughout the night including all those listed above plus short educational courses, night sky tours, and more! We tailor your night to your experience level for a personalized, enjoyable adventure!

Note: Unfortunately at this time we do not offer any accommodations on the ranch. There are many nice hotels in the area though!
